Private Accommodation

Another option to explore is shared student apartments in the city. These are often referred to as “Wohngemeinschaften” or “WG”.

Housing in Vienna is very affordable, even on the private market, due to the robust system of government subsidies, rent controls, and social housing, which accounts for a significant portion of the market. The result of this is that all housing, including unsubsidized housing, remains highly affordable to stay competitive.
